DEAC Accreditation Standard IV.F โ€” Grading Policies

Grading Scale

All lesson assessments are scored on a 0โ€“100% scale. The following grading scale applies to all courses offered by NC EL Staging Pilot:

Assessment Policy

Quiz Attempts

  • Each student receives a maximum of 2 attempts per lesson quiz.
  • The best score of all attempts is permanently recorded.
  • Quiz questions are drawn from lesson content covered in the video, reading, and instructional materials.

Final Course Grade

  • The final course grade is the cumulative average of all lesson quiz best scores.
  • Homework submissions are evaluated on a completion basis and contribute to engagement metrics.
  • Discussion participation is recorded and visible to instructors.

Minimum Passing Standard

  • A minimum cumulative average of 70% is required to pass a course and receive a certificate.
  • Students below 70% are encouraged to review materials and retake available quizzes.

Assessment Return & Feedback

  • Quiz scores are posted immediately upon submission (automated grading).
  • Homework assignments are reviewed by instructors within 5 business days.
  • Students receive feedback via the Student Dashboard and by email notification.

Grade Appeals

  • Students who believe a grade was recorded in error may submit a formal complaint within 30 days of the grade posting.
  • Appeals are reviewed by the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) within 10 business days.
  • The CAO's decision is final.

Incomplete Grades & Course Extensions

  • Students who cannot complete a course due to documented extenuating circumstances may request an Incomplete (I) grade via email to admin@namecentury.com.
  • Incomplete grades must be resolved within 90 days of the original course end date.
  • After 90 days, an unresolved Incomplete converts to a grade based on completed work.
